Reaching Out

It's important to try to remember that there's people there for you and there are ways you can reach out. If you're not in a good place and need somebody to talk to it's okay to find an outlet. Whether it's friends, family, therapy, or online resources.

Needing to talk to someone about what you're feeling isn't being weak or emotional. It can be if it's a very excessive thing but if you feel you need to then please do. It's much better to reach out too much than not enough, at least in my experience. Your friends, if they are your true friends, they're going to be there for you when they can. The people I call my close friends today are all super great resources for me. They each have their unique experiences and they all know who I am and it's really comforting knowing they have my back and are there to help me if I ever get to the point where I don't know how to help myself.

For some people, certain resources are not good for reaching out to. Some people have issues with family, especially people who identify as LGBT.and have not parents who don't understand. For some, therapy doesn't quite work as well as it does with others. Not everything is going to be as helpful as we'd like and that's alright. Things aren't perfect and there is no perfect way to go about things but it's important to remember that no matter how many times we relapse into our depression or other mental illness, we can always come back from it.

Please don't give up trying because of a few setbacks. It might pause your progress but it doesn't get rid of the progress you've already made. You have the ability to conquer the thoughts. We have to learn from our mistakes and figure out what works best for us. It's easier said than done but I've seen some people come back from some bad places. Each of you have the ability to fight back against these illnesses. Do not let it define you. You deserve the best despite what your mind might tell you from time to time. You deserve to wake up and be okay with yourself. You deserve to follow your dreams and be happy.

I love you all, please keep on making it through each day like the incredible human beings you are.
